Professor and Calligrapher Tang Kaizhi (唐楷之) Visits Emory University

On March 3, 2015, Professor of Guangxi Art Institute and calligrapher Dr. Tang Kaizhi (唐楷之) visited Emory University. During his visit, Dr. Tang gave a public lecture entitled “Shu Not Shu: Interpreting Modern Chinese Calligraphy,” and conducted a Chinese calligraphy workshop for Emory undergraduate students taking the course “Chinese Writing Systems in Asia” taught by Dr. Yu Li.

At Emory Dr. Tang also gave a public lecture titled “Shu Not Shu: Interpreting Modern Chinese Calligraphy.”

Dr. Tang is Professor and Chair of the Calligraphy Department, Guangxi Art Institute, and Research Associate at the Modern Calligraphy Research Institute, China Academy of Fine Arts.

唐楷之教授简历:

1997年毕业于中国美术学院书法专业本科,2010年获中国美术学院博士学位,导师王冬龄教授。2011年首都师范大学欧阳中石先生博士后。现任教于广西艺术学院,书法系主任、教授、硕士研究生导师。广西书法家协会理事,广西青年书法家协会主席,广西中国——东盟书法教育研究会副会长兼秘书长,广西区直机关书法家协会副会长,中国书协高教联盟理事。出版专著《生命现场:中国美术学院现代书法教育创新特色》收录于中国美术学院南山博文;出版《新唐书》等个人作品集多部;作品多次入选国家、国际艺术展览;多次举办个人作品展;在核心期刊发表多篇学术论文。
