Theme: Keep It Alive, Keep It Fresh: Calligraphy and Hanzi Teaching in the New Era

For millennia, Chinese calligraphy has embodied vitality and expressive power, bridging cultural heritage and modern innovation. In today's era, how can calligraphy sustain its relevance in modern Hanzi education? How can teachers navigate the shift from handwritten to digital writing while preserving the value of traditional methods? To address these pressing questions, the American Society of Shufa Calligraphy Education (ASSCE) warmly invites educators, scholars, artists, students, and enthusiasts to the 14th International Conference on Hanzi Shufa Calligraphy Education.
Topics of Discussion:
The conference encourages discussions on, but not limited to, the following themes:
1. Vitality of Calligraphy
o Expressiveness and energy in calligraphic works
o The timeless legacy of Hanzi and calligraphy
2. Role of Calligraphy in Hanzi Teaching

Submission Guidelines:
1. Paper Proposals
o Submit in English (up to 500 words) or Chinese (up to 500 words) .
o File format: PDF or Word document (.doc or .docx). The file should be named “author's name + title of proposal”.

Notification of acceptance: May 31, 2025
2. Calligraphy Works
o Each participant may submit no more than two works with minimum resolution: 1280×720. accepting PNG, JPG, BMP, TIFF formats. The file size should not exceed 20MB.

In the body of the email, provide the following information:
Title of the work, author's name, school or organization, contact details (email and postal address)photo, affiliation and a brief introduction of no more than 50 wordsIt is recommended that the author provide a brief description, such as the style of calligraphy and the motivation for the creation of the work. If the work is in Xing or Cao script, please indicate the text content of the work. If the work is a student's work, please indicate the instructor's name and email address.
