On January 17, 2020, Ms. Ren Li, Chinese language teacher at Brockton High School, was invited by Mr. Kang Zhou, Lecturer in Chinese at MIT, to make a presentation on Chinese calligraphy to the Chinese Calligraphy class at MIT. Ms. Li introduced Chinese calligraphy as a critical Chinese culture and art form, and then engaged students in the writing practice. Students earned the basic but important knowledge through listening to the lecture and asking questions, and also experienced writing with the calligraphy brush. All students showed great interest in this Chinese culture.

Ms. Li has been practicing Chinese calligraphy since she was very young. Her Chinese language curriculum in Brockton High includes the calligraphy learning.

Ms. Li introduces Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy masterpiece.

Students practice calligraphy under Ms. Li's guidance.
